Rail Transport Museum is open from 9.30 aM. in the morning to 5.30 PM. on Tuesday to Sunday and in the period of April to September this is open up to 7.30 PM in the evening. The fees for admission is five rupees and if you have camera you have to pay five rupees extra.
This is nice place to visit for them, who loves rails as well as travelling by it. It is located at Chanakyapuri and it have exotic collection of railway engines in India. It has great collection of railway engines with varities like - 26 vintage locomotives - 17 carriages and salons with the oldest locomotive, 1855 steam engine, in working condition, the viceregal Dining Car of 1889 and the Prince of Wales Saloon of 1876. It also have the Maharaja of Mysore's saloon which has seasoned teak and laced with gold and ivory.
Not only the railway parts but this is the museum where one can see the skull of an elephant, charged at mail train. As well as special attraction for children is a toy train chugs around the ground for all day.
