Chote Hazrat Ki Dargah is situated in the Devan Devadi area of Hyderabad, India. This Dargah dates back to the period when Asif Jahi was ruling Hyderabad. This Dargah is built by the Mughal ruler Asif Jahi in honor of Hazrat Ali the son-in law of Prophet Muhammad. In order to reach this Dargah people have to climb about 400 steeps in a row. This is a very popular and holy pilgrimage place for the Muslims.

History

Legend says that Yakoob a eunuch in the court of Ibrahim got a dream and he saw Hazrat Ali in his dreams sitting on Hill top. The next day after his dream he went on the hill and saw the palm of Hazrat Ali on a stone on the same hill. He then took the carved stone and he installed it in a shrine. Later an arch was built on the spot where the rock was found on top of the hill. Later as time passed a mosque was built by Ibrahim Shah, which was close to the Dargah. Finally during the rule of Qutub Shah this mosque and the Dargah were renovated and many new places were added.

There are many Muslims who come to visit this place for offering prayers during the 8th and the 10th day of Muharram. This is considered as an important festival of Muslims. People have a strong belief that Chote Hazrat fulfills all their wishes. By the grace of Chote Hazrat, something miraculous happens and even the impossible becomes possible. Prayer has an immense power and it is the means of communication between the devotee and the deity. This is marked as one of the best Dargah in Hyderabad as it has helped to preserve the rich and religious culture, tradition of the city.

During the Urs of this Dargah there are thousands of people visiting this Dargah. People offers many thing in this auspicious occasion, some people offer clothes, food, sweets and some may give money for the poor sitting outside the Dargah. Some even give shelter for one of the poor sitting there.
