Thousand pillar temples is built by the King Rudra Deva in the year 1163 AD. This temple is named so because there are one thousand pillars that are carved with beautiful sculptures. This temple is designed in the shape of a star which is the unique feature of this temple. This temple is a very good example of the Kakatiya style of design. This is one of the main attractions of this temple.

Thousand pillar temples is built on the slope of the Hanamakonda hill in an area of about 1 mile. There is a Nandi bull made up of black basalt rock which is also one of the unique features of this temple. This Nandi bull is devoted to Lord Surya, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. The temple is bounded with small lingam shrines along with the beautiful garden. Thousand pillar temple is world famous for its 1000 pillars and for exhaustive sculpture and screen. This temple is built on a platform which is raised 1 meter high above sea level.
